Spotify Now Lets Android Users Share Songs Directly On WhatsApp Status
Spotify is making it easier than ever for users to share what they’re listening to. The music-streaming giant has introduced a new way for Android users to post their favourite songs, playlists, and podcasts directly to WhatsApp Status, complete with visuals and instant previews. The update is part of Spotify’s broader push to make music sharing feel more natural across social platforms, and it’s gradually rolling out worldwide this week for both Free and Premium users.
Spotify’s New Sharing Feature Explained
With this update, Android users can now share any track, album, playlist, podcast, or even audiobook to their WhatsApp Status straight from the Spotify app. When shared, the content appears as an attractive visual card showing the title, cover art, and an “Open on Spotify” button. Friends viewing the Status can tap to open the song or even listen to a short preview before diving into the full version on Spotify.
Spotify is introducing weekly listening stats for all users, showing top artists, songs, and milestones. These weekly Wrapped-style snapshots can be shared from the app or on Instagram and WhatsApp in over 60 markets worldwide.https://t.co/Z3md84zNW8 pic.twitter.com/B84V7QNWXZ— AlternativeTo (@AlternativeTo) November 10, 2025

It’s a big step up from traditional link sharing. Instead of copying URLs or screenshots, users can now showcase what they’re listening to in a clean, visual way that fits right into WhatsApp’s familiar 24-hour story format.
How to Share Spotify Songs on WhatsApp
Sharing is simple:
- Open the Spotify app on your Android phone.
- Choose the song, playlist, or podcast you want to share.
- Tap the Share option.
- Select WhatsApp from the list of sharing options.
- The track will appear on your WhatsApp Status as a card with the artwork, title, and a quick link to open it on Spotify.
Friends can view your Status, tap the button to open Spotify instantly, or listen to a short snippet right within WhatsApp.
Expanding Beyond WhatsApp
Spotify isn’t stopping there. The company is extending similar sharing options across other popular social platforms. On Instagram, users can already share what they’re listening to through Notes and interactive Stories with built-in previews. The integration with TikTok will let creators share songs, podcasts, and audiobooks inside the app, while Snapchat users can post Spotify content directly to their Stories or chats.
Spotify is also enhancing in-app sharing: users can send tracks and podcasts as direct messages to friends within the Spotify app itself, making the experience even more social and connected.
A Step Toward More Social Listening
This move highlights Spotify’s growing focus on social music discovery. By merging music and messaging apps, Spotify aims to make sharing as effortless as listening. The WhatsApp Status integration allows users to express moods, share recommendations, and showcase their playlists in a more personal, interactive way.
As the feature rolls out globally over the next few days, expect your WhatsApp feed to turn into a mini jukebox, filled with songs, podcasts, and moments that define your friends’ current vibe.
