Wife, her lover among 4 held in man’s murder in Sathya Sai district

The Sri Satya Sai district police on Friday (December 5) arrested a 33-year-old woman, her alleged lover and two others in connection with the murder of her husband, a 35-year-old man whose decomposed body was found in the Marala reservoir on August 8. The body belonged to Ramappa from Bukkapatnam mandal.

Addressing a press conference here, Superintendent of Police S. Satheesh Kumar said that the police, on inspecting the body, suspected it to be a homicide and launched an investigation, during which the officers found that he was killed by his wife Gangabhavani, her longtime lover Gangadhar and two contract killers, identified as N. Vishnu and C. Sudarshan.

Mr. Satish Kumar said Gangabhavani persuaded Gangadhar to eliminate Ramappa after he discovered the affair. Subsequently, Gangadhar hired Sudarshan to commit the murder; Vishnu, an accused in a 2023 murder case, joined Sudarshan later.

On July 27 night, Sudarshan and Vishnu barged into the house of Ramappa and attacked him with an iron rod, while Gangabhavani heldher husband’s legs. Ramappa’s body was then dumped into the reservoir in a gunny bag.

Gangabhavani and Gangadhar were arrested near the Greenfield Highway on December 4, and Sudarshan and Vishnu were arrested from Vankarakunta in Nallamada mandal on Friday. The police seized four mobile phones, an autorickshaw and a scooter used for disposing of the body.
