The Hindu will be hosting a subscriber-exclusive health webinar focusing on the theme ‘Tackling the Binge: Learning to Handle Addictive Behaviours’ on Sunday (December 7, 2025) from 11.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m.

The webinar will explore how addictive patterns form, and how binge behaviours affect overall wellbeing, examining the biological, psychological, and behavioural mechanisms behind cravings, emotional triggers, and loss of control. Experts will discuss the impact of these behaviours on both mental and metabolic health, early warning signs, and evidence-based strategies to manage and prevent harmful cycles.

In the one-hour session, clinicians will outline practical coping tools, therapeutic approaches, and guidance for families supporting individuals dealing with addiction.

The webinar will feature:

R.M. Anjana, managing director, Dr. Mohan’s Diabetes Specialities Centre, and President, Madras Diabetes Research Foundation; P. Praveen Raj, director and head, Department of Bariatric Surgery, GEM Hospitals; and Lakshmi Venkatraman, consultant psychiatrist and assistant director (Psychosocial Rehabilitation), SCARF, Chennai.

The session will be moderated by R. Sujatha, independent journalist.
