The Kurnool police have arrested two persons for allegedly blackmailing a private hospital owner and also attacking the policemen who went to serve notices on them in Adoni town.

According to the police, the accused, K. Enugula Raghunath and K. Adivesh alias Enugula Adivesh, are from 104-Basapuram village of Adoni mandal. They had lodged a complaint with the District Collector and the Sub-Collector, alleging irregularities in NTR Vaidya Seva services in Madhu Hospital in the district.

The duo demanded ₹50 lakh from Madhu Hospital owner Gurreddy to withdraw the complaint, but finally settled for a deal of ₹39 lakh. The duo demanded ₹5 lakh as advance and forced Mr. Gurreddy to pay ₹10,000 through UPI.

Subsequently, Mr. Gurreddy lodged a complaint with the Adoni I Town police on February 11 and the next day, two constables, Bala Bhaskar and Munichandra, went to the residence of the accused to serve notices. The accused, however, attacked the constables and fled. A case was registered for the attack on the constables, and the duo were arrested at the new Bridge in Adoni Town on Saturday.

During questioning, the police found that the accused had lodged complaints against several people and later blackmailed and extorted money from them to withdraw the complaints.
