Humane Shuts Down Its AI Pin Project, Sells Remaining Assets, Patents, And Technology To HP

Humane has announced it is selling the majority of its company to HP for $116 million and will cease selling its AI Pin product. Existing AI Pins will continue to work until 3 PM ET on February 28, after which they will lose connection to Humane’s servers. This will disable key features like calling, messaging, AI queries, and cloud access. Humane advises users to download any photos, videos, or notes stored on their Pins before the shutdown, as they will be permanently deleted afterward.
So @humane has a new website for the Ai Pin… and wow is it impressive. Everything is so fluid and the three.js implementation is so well done. Take a look for yourself!https://t.co/uuavOJRQb2 pic.twitter.com/BpvrKINHbX

Following the shutdown, Humane states that offline features such as “battery level” will still function, but “any feature requiring cloud connectivity, like voice interactions, AI responses, and .Center access,” will cease to work.

Humane will only provide refunds for AI Pins that are “within the 90-day return window from their original shipment date,” as outlined in a shutdown FAQ. Refund requests must be submitted by February 27, 2025. Additionally, if you have paid for a subscription beyond February 28, Humane will issue a prorated refund.
Humane’s subscription service, which provided users with data coverage through T-Mobile, will automatically be canceled after February 28. The company has also confirmed it will issue refunds for AI Pins purchased within the 90-day return window from the original shipment date, with buyers having until February 27 to request a refund.
