China Vice Foreign Minister Expresses Condolences Over Ex-PM Manmohan Singh’s Death

Dr Manmohan Singh, the architect of India’s economic reforms, died in Delhi on December 26. He was 92.
China paid tribute to Dr Manmohan Singh saying that he made a “positive contribution” to the development of India-China relations.
China’s Vice Foreign Minister Chen Xiaodong mourned the passing of former Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh as he went to the Embassy of India in China and wrote an inscription on the condolence book. Indian Ambassador to China Pradeep Kumar Rawat expressed gratitude to Vice Minister Chen Xiaodong for coming to express condolences on behalf of the Chinese government.

Earlier, China paid tribute to Dr Manmohan Singh saying that he made a “positive contribution” to the development of India-China relations. Beijing reflected on key agreements signed between the two countries during Manmohan Singh’s tenure to address the vexed boundary issue.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said that when Manmohan Singh was the Prime Minister, China and India announced the establishment of the strategic cooperative partnership for peace and prosperity and reached an agreement on the political parameters and guiding principles for the settlement of the India-China boundary question.
