In a major outreach initiative aimed at reshaping the agricultural landscape of Andhra Pradesh, the government will organise a week-long farmer awareness programme titled ‘Rytanna – Mee Kosam’ from November 24 to 29.
The drive, involving visits by MLAs to farmers’ houses, is designed to educate them on modern cultivation methods and the State’s new five-point strategy for making agriculture profitable. Workshops will also be conducted at Rythu Seva Kendras on December 3.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, who held a teleconference with nearly 10,000 farmers and officials on Thursday, said the government is committed to transforming agriculture with technology, better water management and value addition. He noted that ₹6,310 crore has already been credited in two instalments under the Annadata Sukheebhava – PM Kisan scheme, reflecting the government’s strong support to farmers.
The Chief Minister underlined the five-point formula guiding the State’s agricultural reforms: water security, demand-based cultivation, agritech integration, food processing and continuous government support. He directed officials to extend awareness programmes beyond regular farmers to include those involved in dairy, poultry, horticulture and sericulture.
Mr. Naidu emphasised the need to promote natural and organic farming, stating that it enhances soil health while ensuring greater value for farm produce. The government is providing certification and traceability for organic products and plans to promote them widely in Rythu Bazaars. He urged farmers to reduce the use of fertilisers and pesticides and adopt technologies that can lower cultivation costs.
Highlighting recent achievements in water management, the Chief Minister said efficient management have helped fill all reservoirs across the State, ensuring adequate water availability for the coming season. Minister for Agriculture K. Atchannaidu and senior officials participated in the tele conference.
