Mumbai Indians handed a maiden Indian Premier League cap to South African all-rounder Corbin Bosch ahead of its IPL 2025 clash against Lucknow Super Giants at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday.

Bosch replaced the injured Mitchell Santner in the playing XI, having recently been added to Mumbai’s squad as an injury replacement for compatriot Lizaad Williams.

Bosch’s debut comes shortly after the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) imposed a one-year ban on him from the Pakistan Super League (PSL). The ban was issued after Bosch withdrew from the PSL 2025 season despite being selected by Peshawar Zalmi as a Diamond pick in the draft.

Following the ban, Bosch issued a public apology through the PCB, stating: “I deeply regret my decision to withdraw from the PSL, and offer my sincere apologies to the people of Pakistan, the fans of Peshawar Zalmi, and the wider cricket community.”

A right-arm quick and middle-order batter, Bosch starred in South Africa’s 2014 Under-19 World Cup win, earning Player of the Final honours. He made his senior Proteas debut in 2024 and helped MI Cape Town clinch the 2025 SA20 title, taking 11 wickets in the campaign.
