Amberpet Sub-Inspector booked for allegedly pledging seized gold
A sub-inspector attached with the Amberpet police station was booked after a duty revolver and gold kept in official custody reportedly went missing.
The officer, Bhanu Prasad, a 2020 batch Sub-Inspector, was booked, and is being questioned. The issue surfaced when he allegedly failed to account for the seized gold and his service weapon.
Investigators suspect that around five tolas of gold were untraceable, and preliminary findings suggest the officer may have pledged it. Preliminary findings reveal that the SI was addicted to online betting and might have pledged the gold in connection with that.
Following the discovery, Amberpet police registered a case and detained the officer for questioning. An internal inquiry has also been initiated.
