Amit Shah on 3-day J&K tour to review security, development

JAMMU: Ahead of PM Narendra Modi’s visit to J&K to flag off the first train between Katra and Srinagar on April 19, Union home minister Amit Shah arrived in Jammu on Sunday for a three-day tour to review counter-terrorism operations amid ongoing cross-border infiltration and recent terror incidents.
He is scheduled to visit on Monday the family of late DSP Humayun Muzammil Bhat, who, along with Colonel Manpreet Singh and Major Ashish Dhonack, was martyred during an encounter with terrorists in Garol, Kokernag, on Sept 13, 2023.
“He will also present appointment letters to the next of kin of Bhat on compassionate grounds,” a source said.
Shah will then fly to Srinagar on Tuesday to review various development programmes in the UT. Besides meeting BJP MLAs in Jammu to discuss political matters, he will chair two high-level security review meetings of Unified Headquarters ahead of Amarnath Yatra.
