Anantapur police continued their crackdown on vehicles ferrying people more than permissible numbers and in transport vehicles.
The Police on Saturday (April 19) stopped a pickup van which was jampacked with daily wage workers at Bellarymitta in Kalyandurg town. Atleast 40 people were travelling in the pickup van from Shettur to the outskirts of Kalyandurg town for working in agriculture fields. The workers were made to deboard and were asked to reach their destinations in autos.
Kalyandurg Urban Police Station Circle Inspector Yuvaraju said journey in transport vehicles and in jampacked ones is mostly likely to end in accidents. He said safety should be given priority if one has to go on emergency works. Travelling in transport vehicles is unsafe, he added.
