Apple Reportedly Working On WhatsApp Status Integration For Apple Music

Apple is reportedly working on a new integration that will allow Apple Music users to share songs and lyrics directly to WhatsApp Status, giving music fans a more interactive way to express what they’re listening to. According to a report, the feature has been spotted in the iOS 26.2 developer beta, hinting that the rollout could be part of Apple’s next major update.
Apple Music to WhatsApp: Seamless Music Sharing
The new feature expands Apple’s ecosystem by connecting Apple Music with WhatsApp’s Status, Meta’s story-style feature similar to Instagram Stories. Users will soon be able to post their current track or favourite lyrics as visually rich status updates that disappear after 24 hours.
Currently, Apple Music allows sharing through WhatsApp using the basic share extension, which only sends a link or plain text. The new update will elevate this experience by embedding album art, song details, and highlighted lyric snippets directly within WhatsApp Status, mirroring what Spotify already offers on the platform.

How the Feature Works in Beta
In the iOS 26.2 beta version, when users tap “Share Lyrics” in Apple Music, they now see a new option labelled “WhatsApp Status.” From there, users can select a few lines of lyrics to display before sharing. The feature is designed to make updates more personalised, allowing users to choose the exact verse or chorus that resonates with them.
The shared status will reportedly include:
- Album cover artwork
- Song title and artist name
- Selected lyric lines
However, a report suggests the feature doesn’t yet appear consistently across all sharing scenarios, particularly when users try to share entire songs instead of lyric snippets. This indicates that Apple is still refining the functionality ahead of a wider release.
Expected Rollout and Impact
The new integration is expected to be introduced officially with iOS 26.2, following testing in developer and public beta versions. Once released, Apple Music users will gain a new way to merge their listening experience with their social interactions, directly within WhatsApp.
By enabling a more visual and emotionally expressive way to share music, Apple seems to be following a broader industry trend of fusing music discovery with social storytelling.
If successful, this feature could further strengthen Apple Music’s engagement levels and give WhatsApp users another creative way to communicate through sound, lyrics, and emotion, one status at a time.
