Popular playback singer Armaan Malik is back on stage, having kicked-off his all-India concert in Bengaluru this weekend. The artiste, who will be visiting three more cities over the next few months, has sung over 350 songs in more than 10 languages, in a career spanning close to two decades.

Each of his shows boasts multiple songs in different languages, and Bengaluru was no exception with hits in Kannada as well as Hindi, Telugu, English pop and independent numbers. “I am proud of the fact that my shows are quite eclectic with something for everyone,” says the singer.

Though Telugu is the singer’s mother tongue, his inflection and intonation in almost every language has been laudable. “For me that is a victory,” he says, admitting that he is more at ease with Kannada and Telugu songs.

Armaan, who has also composed songs in English, says, “About 90% of my shows comprise original numbers, with the rest being songs I enjoy as an artiste.” He has had collaborations with artistes such as Ed Sheeran for ‘2Step’, Calum Scott for ‘Always’ and Lauv for ‘Next2Me’, as well as others such as Control and Tu/ You.

Aside from his ongoing tour and song writing, Armaan has been busy lending his voice to film songs, perhaps the most notable being ‘Vibe Undi’ in various languages for the star-studded, multilingual Mirai. And while he was last seen on screen in Kaccha Limboo (2011), Armaan says he is not averse to the experience but prefers the role of “a singer or musician” as those would not only be apt, but also lend to his musical career.

Since the start of this year, Armaan has released ‘Baari Baari’ a Punjabi-Hindi pop number and launched Saanvarey, a wedding album comprising upbeat English and Hindi numbers. He says another album with some of his independent numbers is likely to be released early next year.

Armaan Malik Live will next stop at Hyderabad in October, followed by shows in Mumbai and Delhi in November.
