Artillery Regiment’s valour in Operation Sindoor a model for future soldiers: Lt. Gen. Adosh Kumar to Agniveers

“The recent performance of the Regiment of Artillery in Operation Sindoor should serve as an enduring benchmark of courage and professionalism for the Army’s next generation,” said Lieutenant General Adosh Kumar, Director General, Regiment of Artillery on Wednesday (December 3, 2025). The officer was addressing the sixth batch of Agniveers during their passing out parade at Artillery Centre, Hyderabad.

Describing the Regiment’s role in the Operation as decisive and inspirational, he told the Agniveers that they were joining an arm whose legacy had been forged through precision, innovation and battlefield excellence. He noted that every conflict since 1947 had underscored the indispensability of artillery firepower, and its role in Operation Sindoor was a reminder of the critical role the arm continues to play in safeguarding national interests.

The Artillery Centre in Hyderabad marked the passing out of its sixth batch of Agniveers on Wednesday morning as 1,624 recruits completed their 31-week training programme. The Centre has the capacity to train 2,900 Agniveers at a time and the latest cohort concluded its course with a ceremonial parade held against the rising sun.

Before the parade commenced, artillery guns were brought onto the ground as part of the traditional preparations. The chief guest, accompanied by Artillery Centre Commandant Brigadier Rahul Thapliyal, reviewed the parade before the Agniveers marched past in slow and quick time.

The Military Band, led by Subedar Jaipal Yadav, set the tone for the morning as the parade stepped off. The Agniveers saluted the reviewing officer as they crossed the dais, marking the culmination of months of physical conditioning, weapons training and field exercises.

Awards for overall merit were presented by the chief guest. Sneh Tiwari secured the first position, followed by Shinde Prashad in second place and Nitin Sharma in third place.

At the end of the ceremony, the Artillery Centre Commandant administered the oath to the newly inducted Agniveers. Lt. Gen. Adosh Kumar said that the Agniveers entry into the Regiment of Artillery came at a time when the nature of warfare was rapidly evolving. “With shifting definitions of conflict and the emergence of new technologies, soldiers would be required to innovate constantly and apply modern techniques on the battlefield,” he added.
