Director Anil Vishwanath’s Telugu film 28°C starring Naveen Chandra and Shalini Vadnikatti, billed as an intense love story, will have stiff competition not from new Telugu films, but from re-releases of older blockbusters. Vying for attention this weekend will be director Singeetam Srinivasa Rao’s science fiction Aditya 369 starring Balakrishna in dual roles and Arya 2, director Sukumar’s film starring Allu Arjun, Kajal Aggarwal and Navdeep.
Sukumar’s Arya and Arya 2 were instrumental in fuelling the stardom of Allu Arjun in the 2000s. The romance drama scheduled to re-release on April 5 was presented by BVSN Prasad and produced by Aditya Babu, and the music by Devi Sri Prasad is one of its USPs.

The 1991 film Aditya 369, re-releasing with 4K digitisation and 5.1 sound mix on April 4, is a time travel story starring Nandamuri Balakrishna in dual roles. The film has music by Ilaiyaraaja and dialogues by the late Jandhyala.
Reminiscing about the film produced by Sivalenka Krishna Prasad and presented by the late singer SP Balasubrahmanyam, director Singeetam Srinivasa Rao stated that he was inspired by H.G. Wells’ novel The Time Machine.
The 93-year-old director stated, “Many think that I was inspired by Back to the Future, but that’s not true. In my college days, I read H.G. Wells’ novel The Time Machine. It had elements of time travel, science, and fiction. I used to discuss these ideas with my college friends. In Hollywood, time-travel movies were made in the black and white era. After I became a filmmaker, I happened to be traveling on a flight to Bengaluru with S.P. Balasubrahmanyam. I once told him that I had an interesting subject in mind. He found it fascinating.”
