Bangladesh will look to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series when it faces West Indies in the second One-Day International at Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur on Tuesday.
Leg-spinner Rishad Hossain bamboozled the Windies batting lineup with a six-wicket haul on a dark pitch, as Bangladesh posted a massive 74-run win in the series opener despite just scoring 207 after being inserted.
Rishad also played a vital knock with the bat, smashing a 13-ball 26 at the back end of the innings to take Bangladesh past the 200-run mark. Former skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto, Towhid Hridoy and debutant Mahidul Islam Ankon also made crucial contributions with the bat earlier in the innings.
For West Indies, left-arm spinner Khary Pierre bowled a parsimonious spell, conceding just 19 runs in 10 overs and taking the big scalp of Shanto. The Shai Hope-led side began the chase on a promising note, with Brandon King and Alick Athanaze putting on a 51-run opening stand, before Rishad got into his act by nabbing both openers.
