Belagavi woman kills alcoholic husband after suspecting his intentions to molest daughter

A woman allegedly killed her husband following suspicion that he was planning to sexually assault their daughter, in Umrani village near Chikkodi in Belagavi district on Wednesday (January 1, 2025) night.

Savitri Itnal (25) allegedly hacked Srimant Itnal (30) to death at their house. She used a rock to smash his head.

She then cut the body into two pieces, stuffed them in a barrel and rolled it over to a farm in the village. She threw the body, came back home and cleaned up the scene. She washed the rock and the barrel, and also burnt her clothes and the bedsheet. She threw away the ash in a compost pit.

However, when the body was found the next day, the police began investigation. During interrogation, Ms. Savitri revealed that she had killed him.

She said that Srimant was an alcoholic and would pester her for money. He was forcing her to buy him a bike by any means, including soliciting other men in the village. However, she did not yield. He was also planning to sexually assault their daughter, she said.

When she suspected this, Ms. Savitri killed him. She pleaded with the police to take care of her children as they had no one else to seek shelter from. The accused has been arrested, and a case has been registered.
