Book fair in Nagercoil kicks off with enthusiasm and inspiring messages

The sixth edition of the book fair in Nagercoil organised by Kanniyakumari district administration in partnership with Booksellers and Publishers Association of South India (BAPASI) commenced on Wednesday with energetic “Parai” music on the campus of S.L.B. School where the event is being held.

Kanniyakumari Collector R. Alagumeena inaugurated the fair which will be on till March 1.

Speaking at the event the District Collector drew parallels between American investor Warren Buffet and business tycoon Bill Gates highlighting that both, despite their immense wealth and success, were are voracious readers. She emphasised, “reading enables individuals to reach greater heights and even after achieving success one must continue to read.”

She urged parents to introduce good books to their children and inculcate reading habits from an early age. She further stressed that people should read extensively in their chosen field to excel. Ms. Alagumeena also shared her favourite book titled “The Power of Positive Thinking” by Norman Vincent Peale and described it as an inspiring read for self motivation and goal achievement.

At the event Superintendent of Police R. Stalin exhorted the students to develop reading habit, urging them to break free from the distractions of social media and mobile phones. He noted that reading broadens knowledge and helps individuals view the world from a different perspective, ultimately leading to success.

Nagercoil Corporation Mayor R. Mahesh, Corporation Commissioner Nishanth Krishna, District Forest Officer E. Prashanth, District Revenue Officer J. Balasubramaniam, Padhmanabhapuram Sub Collector Vinay Kumar Meena and other officials were present at the event.
