CIIL, KPA to sign MoU today to offer language training to police officers

On the occasion of International Mother Tongue Day which is observed on February 21, the Central Institute of Indian Languages (CIIL), Mysuru, and the Karnataka Police Academy, Mysuru, are coming together for collaborative efforts in language training and security skill development.

It aims to promote the linguistic diversity and cultural heritage of India, the CIIL and the KPA are signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for a partnership in two focus areas. Akhilesh Mishra, Ambassador of India to Ireland, Kapil Kapoor, former professor of linguistics, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), R.C. Sharma, former professor of linguistics, Delhi University, Chennabasavanna S.L., director, Karnataka Police Academy, Mysuru, Shailendra Mohan, director, CIIL, Mysuru, Rajesh Sachdeva, former director, CIIL, Mysuru, and L. Ramamoorthy, former professor of linguistics, Central University, Kerala, will be present on the occasion.

CIIL will provide tailored language training in various Indian languages to enhance the communication skills and cultural competency of Karnataka’s police officers, stated a press release from CIIL.

KPA will extend its expertise to CIIL through specialised training programmes in cyber security, fire safety, first aid, and background verification, the release noted.
