College students sensitised to road safety rules in Tiruchi


The Road Safety Wing of the Highways Department sought to sensitise students of TNAU Agricultural Engineering College and Research Institute, Kumulur, to road safety rules at an awareness programme on Thursday.

Divisional Engineer R. Bhuvaneshvari and Assistant Divisional Engineer D. Gomathy, explained, through audio visual presentations, road safety rules and regulations and the safety measures to be taken to reduce the rate of road accidents. They explained the importance of following traffic rules, road signs, wearing helmets, and seat belts and emergency helpline numbers.

The programme was part of a campaign conducted regularly by the wing to sensitise students to various aspects of road safety. Such programmes are held in at least three colleges every month, officials said.
