Annamayya District Collector Nishant Kumar on Friday directed Irrigation Department officials and Handri Neeva Sujala Sravanthi (HNSS) project engineers to expedite all pending works in key projects, saying delays were affecting storage management and water supply to fields.

The Collector inspected the Veligallu project, the first pumping station of the HNSS main canal at Diguvapalli in Peddamandyam mandal, and the Srinivasapuram reservoir near Rayachoti. He reviewed current water levels, gate conditions, canal operations, and ayacut management.

Officials informed him that the Veligallu project receives Papagni waters originating in the Nandi Hills of Karnataka. The project was designed to store 4.64 TMC, against which the current level stands at 4.15 TMC. Water is being supplied to 60 tanks covering 23,400 acres through the right canal and to nine tanks covering 600 acres through the left canal.

Mr. Nishant Kumar also examined the delivery points carrying backwaters from Srisailam and asked officials to resolve the technical gaps. At the Srinivasapuram reservoir, it was found that while major canal structures were complete, minor works such as bridges and canal lining were still pending.

The Collector stressed that all pending works must be completed by August 2026.
