Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday said the Delhi government will coordinate with banks to help people recover money lying “unclaimed”.
Assets such as insurance policy claims, bank deposits, dividends, shares, or income from mutual funds often remain unclaimed in the banks due to a lack of awareness or outdated account details.
Ms. Gupta said a special campaign – ‘Aap Ki Punji Aap Ka Adhikar’ (your money, your right) – of the Union Finance Ministry is underway at the Dr. Ambedkar International Centre, Janpath, where people can approach to claim unclaimed money.
“This is not just the recovery of funds, it is the restoration of rights, fulfillment of justice, and affirmation of your entitlements. So far, we have returned approximately ₹85 crore to their rightful owners, and we will continue the efforts to return people’s assets,” said Ms. Gupta, who visited the centre.
She appealed to the people to keep a check on bank accounts, fixed deposits, policies, shares, and mutual fund investments.
