Fans of acclaimed filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj have been eagerly awaiting an update on his upcoming project since the release of his last directorial Coolie, starring Rajinikanth. On Saturday (November 1), the director threw a curveball as it was officially announced that he will make his acting debut in an upcoming film titled DC, directed by Arun Matheswaran and co-starring Wamiqa Gabbi.
Billed as an action romance, the film was announced with a title teaser.
In the teaser, we are introduced to Lokesh as Devadas, a mean-looking, dagger-wielding brute bathed in the blood of his victims. Wamiqa appears as Chandra, Devadas’ paramour. The design of the hallway they walk through, as well as the colour palette, does make one wonder if the film’s Arun’s twisted tribue to Wong Kar-Wai’s In The Mood For Love, which is turning 25 this year.
Details regarding the plot of the film remain unknown.
DC has music by composer Anirudh Ravichander, Lokesh’s frequent collaborator, cinematography by Mukesh G and editing by GK Prasanna. The film is produced by Sun Pictures and is set to release in the Summer of 2026.
