DGCA found five safety violations by Air India in the past six months: govt.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has served nine show-cause notices to Air India for five safety violations in the past six months, the Centre informed Parliament on Monday (July 21, 2025). File.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has served nine show-cause notices to Air India for five safety violations in the past six months, the Centre informed Parliament on Monday (July 21, 2025).

The information was provided by Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol in Rajya Sabha in response to a question from CPM MP John Brittas. “Enforcement action has been completed in respect of one violation,” the response added.

But the DGCA action against Air India for safety violations seems to suggest a declining trend over the past year, according to data produced before Parliament.

The total warnings issued to Air India by DGCA in the first seven months of 2025 were down to 65 from 203 in 2024 and suspensions also dropped from 329 to 61. Fines totalling ₹82.35 lakh have been imposed this year as compared to nearly nine times the amount, i.e ₹7.41 crore in 2024.

Suspension orders are typically issued against pilots and airline post holders directly accountable to the DGCA.
