All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami on Friday (November 7, 2025) accused the DMK government in Tamil Nadu of compromising on the safety of women in the State.
In a post on social media, Mr. Palaniswami referred to the reported abductions of a woman in Coimbatore, while she was walking on the road, and a girl child in Kannagi Nagar, Chennai, and contended that after having “created a tense environment” for women, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin and his son and Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin should feel ashamed of themselves to call their government “a regime for women.” These incidents come in the wake of the Coimbatore sexual assault case, in which a college student and her friend were attacked, before she was allegedly raped by three men.

The AIADMK leader said Mr. Stalin should hang his head in shame for having made women’s safety “a question mark.” He called upon the Chief Minister to expedite the process of investigation into the two cases and take steps to bring the guilty to book at the earliest.
Separately, Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) general secretary T.T.V. Dhinakaran also called for an early follow-up to the Coimbatore incident by the authorities.
