Foreign national sexually assaulted by man who offered her lift in Hyderabad

A 21-year-old woman, who flew from Italy to meet a friend in Hyderabad’s Meerpet area, was sexually assaulted by a man who offered her a lift in Pahadishareef on Monday (March 31, 2025) night.

According to the police, the victim had come to Hyderabad and was accompanied by another foreigner. The incident was reported around 7.30 p.m. to 8 p.m., after which the Pahadishareef police launched a manhunt to trace the 25-year-old driver.

The accused, who was driving a hired car, was already with five others when he spotted the two foreigners. “He offered them a ride. After taking them around the city for about 1.5 hours and dropping everyone else including her friend, the accused took the woman to a secluded spot in Pahadishareef on the pretext of taking more photos and videos. He then sexually assaulted her and fled from the spot,” Maheshwaram DCP D. Sunitha Reddy explained. The official said that five others in the car were below of the age of 18.

Following a complaint by the woman, the Pahadishareef police booked a case. The victim has been sent for medical examination.
