The Tondiarpet police have arrested four men for allegedly kidnapping their former business partner and demanding money from him.

The police said the victim R. Prabu, 37, of Thuraiyur, Tiruchi stayed at his friend Hari’s place on Vaidyanathan Street in Tondiarpet for the last 10 days. On Tuesday (March 18, 2025), A. Udayakumar, 28, his brother, A. Sasikumar, 26, V. Jagadish, 27, of Bengaluru, and S. Lokeshwaran, 28, of Perambur abducted and held him at a room in Guindy. They also assaulted Prabu and demanded he pay back the money they had lost in a business venture. Following a complaint from Prabu’s wife, the police rescued him and arrested the four men. They also seized a car from them.

The investigation revealed that Prabu, Udayakumar, and Sasikumar were partners in an online trading business in Bengaluru for four years. As Prabu incurred a loss in the business, the siblings demanded their investment back and repeatedly harassed the former. Learning that Prabu was at his friend’s place in Chennai, the group decided to abduct him and demand the money.
