‘If Rahul and Kejriwal had contested together … ‘: Uddhav Thackeray’s party claims BJP would have lost if INDIA bloc was united in Delhi | India News

NEW DELHI: Shiv Sena (UBT) on Saturday said that results of Delhi assembly elections would have been different if the Congress and AAP had contested together against the BJP. Arvind Kejriwal and Rahul Gandhi, who are allies in the opposition’s INDIA bloc, campaigned against each other after they turned rivals in the Delhi elections.
“The early trends show a sharp competition. Had Congress and AAP been together, the results may have been different. The political opponent of AAP and Congress is BJP. Both of them fought to keep BJP from coming to power, but they fought individually. If they had been together then BJP’s defeat must have been confirmed in the first hour (of counting),” Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut said.
Uddhav Thackeray did not campaign in Delhi elections after Shiv Sena (UBT) decided to stay neutral. Sanjay Raut alleged that Maharashtra pattern of voter manipulation was repeated in Delhi and the Election Commission has kept his eyes closed.
