Music legend Ilaiyaraaja will organise an all-girls orchestra in memory of his daughter, Bhavatharini. The playback singer passed away on January 26, 2024.
The orchestra has been named ‘Bhavatha Girls Orchestra’. The music maestro has invited samples from aspiring musicians for the event.
“If you are an aspiring vocalist or musician, don’t miss this opportunity. The stage is yours to shine,” said Ilaiyaraaja through the event poster. “A harmony of voices and instruments in a tribute to my daughter.” Those interested in the event must send their samples, profile and contact details to allgirlsorchestra@gmail.com.
Bhavatharini, who rendered some memorable songs, including ‘Mayil Pola Ponnu Onnu’ in Bharathi and ‘Oliyile Therivathu Thevathaya’ in Azhagi, died in Sri Lanka. She was 47, and is survived by her husband and her brothers Karthik Raja and Yuvan Shankar Raja. She won the national award for the song ‘Mayil Pola Ponnu Onnu’.

Sources in Colombo said Bhavatharini, who was suffering from cancer, was in Sri Lanka with her husband for Ayurvedic treatment.
