Nitish Kumar Reddy has been ruled out of the final match of India’s three-match ODI series with Australia due to a left quadriceps injury.

Nitish featured in the first two matches of the series, scoring 27 runs and bowling 5.1 overs as India conceded a 2-0 series lead.

Captain Shubman Gill announced that he would miss the match at the toss, with his place in the side being taken by a specialist bowler in Prasidh Krishna. Kuldeep Yadav was also named in the playing XI, replacing Arshdeep Singh.

A statement posted by the BCCI on social media said that Nitish had sustained the injury during the second ODI at Adelaide, and that he was being monitored on a daily basis by the BCCI’s medical team.

The all-rounder has also been named in the squad for India’s five-match T20I series against Australia beginning on Wednesday, although his participation in the series is now in doubt after the latest injury update.
