India ‘A’ and Pakistan Shaheens will face off in a high-voltage Asia Cup Rising Stars T20 tournament match at the West End Park International Cricket Stadium in Doha on Sunday.

The Jitesh Sharma-led Indian team is coming off a thumping 148-run win over the United Arab Emirates in its campaign opener, which was lit up by the 14-year-old opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s scorching 42-ball 144.

Suryavanshi’s record ton and Jitesh’s 32-ball unbeaten 83 powered India ‘A’ to a mammoth 297 for four in 20 overs. In reply, the UAE could only muster 149 for seven, with left-arm pacer Gurjapneet Singh picking three wickets and spinner Harsh Dubey scalping two.

Pakistan Shaheens had also put up a strong batting performance in its tournament opener, amassing 220 for four in 20 overs against Oman to clinch a comfortable 40-run victory. Opener Maaz Sadaqat’s blazing 54-ball 96 had put the Shaheens on course for a huge total, which was easily defended, with Sadaqat also nabbing two wickets with his left-arm spin.

With two aggresive batting units set to lock horns, the contest promises to be an exciting one.
