India confirms two medals at Asian Archery Championships 2025

India secured at least two medals in the Asian Archery Championships as its men’s recurve team and women’s compound team reached their respective finals, in Dhaka, Bangladesh, on Monday.

The women’s team, comprising Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Prithika Pradeep and Deepshikha, beat Vietnam in the quarterfinals 235-225 before facing host Bangladesh, which lost 227-234.

It was another dominant day for women’s compound archers from the country, with all three in the top four of the individual event. Deepshikha tops the individual rankings with 705 points.

In men’s recurve, Atanu Das, Rahul and Yashdeep Bhoge helped India reach the final by beating Kazakhstan 5-3. It had pipped Turkmenistan in the first round and thrashed Malaysia in the next with a scoreline of 6-2 and 6-0, respectively.

Both sides will face archery giant South Korea in the summit clash, with the compound final on November 13 and the recurve clash a day later.

The Indian women — compound — will go up against a side that features Park Yerin, a two-time World Archery Youth Championships silver medallist, and the only non-Indian in the top five of individual compound qualifying.

Meanwhile, the men’s recurve side of South Korea will have a two-time Asian Grand Prix gold medallist, Seo Min-Gi, among the most important marksmen, who is second in individual rankings.

However, the topper on that list – Bhoge – will start in India colours, hoping to convert silver into gold.
