Almost a week after a former rowdy sheeter went on a slashing spree in Indiranagar, stabbing five people, he was arrested on the outskirts of the city on Saturday.

The police tracked down the accused, Kadamba, to Hoskote. He used to change his location frequently, with logistical help from the family. The police tracked him down by keeping tabs on his family members, sources said.

The police have now arrested his father Suresh, elder brother Vishnu, and sister Sushmitha, all residents of Old Binnamangala, for harbouring him.

The police said that on the day he went on the slashing spree, he had a bitter tiff with his family members over them not giving him money for drinking. He left the house in a huff and attacked five people with a knife, the police said.

The accused had created havoc when he slashed four people, all in their neck, in a matter of half-an-hour in Indiranagar over trivial issues. These included a security guard, a 19-year-old youth, and two pani puri vendors.

Hours later, he had waylaid a bike-taxi driver, attacked him, snatched his bike, and fled. Though he was spotted by the Hoysala patrolling team, he managed to give them the slip.

Later that day, he was spotted at a medical store in Hoskote, where he tried to fleece the shopkeeper, but fled the scene when the latter screamed for help.

He has now been arrested from the Hoskote area.

Kadamba, in his mid-twenties, had six cases of assault, mobile theft pending against him, and a rowdy sheet was opened against him in Indiranagar police station in May, 2024. However, it was closed after he furnished a bond of ₹1 lakh, over good behaviour.
