International documentary and short film festival in Madurai

Marupakkam Film Collective, a forum for documentary films, along with educational institutions, cultural organisations and film societies, is organising the 27th Madurai International Documentary and Short Film Festival from December 6 to 10.

A total number of 97 films from 24 countries will be screened in nine venues under various categories such as Documentaries, Short fiction, Animation, Experimental films and Music Videos.

According to a press release by the Director of Marupakkam Film Collective R.P. Amudhan, around 20 filmmakers from across India will take part in the event to present their films and also take part in the post screening interactions with the audience.

The screenings will take place at venues across the city. At the main venue LENS Media Centre, Gnana Olivupuram (December 6-10, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.) registration and delegate passes are needed.

Special Day show will be held at IDEAS Centre on December 7 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and the entry is free. Evening shows will be held at Kaleidoscope Hall (December 6-10, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.) and the entry is free. Campus shows held at four colleges and two universities are open only for the students of those institutions, according to the press release.
