IOA order to replace Boxing Federation of India with ad-hoc body stayed

The Delhi High Court on Monday stayed the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) order which replaced the Boxing Federation of India (BFI) with a five-member ad-hoc committee, according to information shared by the BFI.

On February 24, IOA president P.T. Usha replaced the BFI with the ad-hoc panel on the ground that the federation had not held its elections by the due date (February 2).

The ad-hoc panel was tasked with the responsibility of looking after the day-to-day affairs of the BFI and conducting its elections.

The BFI objected to the decision, saying the order was passed by Usha without consulting the concerned international federation, World Boxing (WB), which reportedly backed the BFI, and the IOA’s Executive Committee.
