IWL 2025-26 to be played in two stages; First phase to start in December
The 2025-26 season of the Indian Women’s League (IWL) will be played in two phases, with the first phase taking place in the December-January window and the second in the April-May slot.
The decision was taken in a virtual meeting between the All India Football Federation (AIFF) and the IWL clubs on Thursday, with the exact dates of the first phase locked in later. Accordingly, the initial phase of the league will likely begin on December 20 and continue till January 6.
Both phases are likely to be played across two centralised venues — one in each phase. Both stadiums in Goa —which are hosting the ongoing AIFF Super Cup — the GMC Stadium in Bambolim and the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Margao, have been discussed but a final decision on IWL’s venues are yet to be taken.
