JD(U)’s Sanjay Jha questions Congress over fate of Karnataka caste census report | India News

NEW DELHI: Janata Dal (United) MP Sanjay Jha on Tuesday questioned Congress over the fate of Karnataka caste census report and why it has not been made public. His remarks came as part of his speech on the discussion on the ‘Motion of Thanks to the President’s address’ in Rajya Sabha. He highlighted that Bihar is the only state that has conducted and made public the records of its caste census.
Pointing out that Congress keeps raising the demand for a nation-wide caste census, Jha questioned Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge, as to what’s the fate of the Karnataka caste census report. He also lashed out at RJD for questioning the caste census data in Bihar.
Jha also took on AAP’s Sanjay Singh over his claims of improving quality of life in Delhi by pointing out that roads in the capital’s colonies are in a terrible state and residents are complaining of dirty water.
Jha, while lauding the central govt for bringing the much needed focus on Bihar in the budget, lashed out at the opposition as he took a dig at the INDIA alliance, saying Bihar CM Nitish Kumar left the alliance as he saw through the hypocrisy of the allies. “The way they are abusing each other and fighting, I wonder why they still call themselves the INDIA alliance,” Jha said.
He further alleged that Nitsh Kumar realised that they (INDIA alliance members) will not stand by anyone except their own people. “Therefore, he decided to leave as he knew that this alliance will not go anywhere,” Jha said.
Meanwhile the JD(U) leader lauded the Centre for taking measures to address the concerns of the state in the budgets of 2025-26. He cited that in the Mithila region, major chunk of Bihar’s makhana farming happens and it involves five lakh families from the state’s most backward communities. Now that govt has announced the Makhana Board in the budget, there was hope that this sector will get access to processing, packaging and market linkages which they lacked.
