JSS STU’s 7th convocation to be held on Monday

As many as 1,678 students of JSS Science and Technology University (JSS STU), Mysuru, are graduating during its 7th convocation which will be held on the JSS Technical Institutions’ campus here on Monday.

This year, 992 BE, 51 BCA, 90 MTech, 114 MCA, 140 MSc, 282 MBA, and nine PhD students will be awarded degrees at the convocation scheduled to take place at 4 p.m.

Shivarathri Deshikendra Swami of Suttur Math will preside over the convocation and award degrees and medals to the achievers. The chief guest of the occasion will be Shalini Rajneesh, Chief Secretary of the government of Karnataka. She will deliver the convocation address.

JSS Mahavidyapeetha executive secretary C.G. Betsurmath and director of the technical education Division B. Suresh will be present.

148 ranks and 64 medals

Sharing the details of the convocation at a press conference in the JSS STU campus on Saturday, JSS STU vice-chancellor A.N. Santosh Kumar said 148 ranks and 64 medals will be awarded to students, recognising their exemplary academic performances. Out of these, 30 gold medals will be presented to students who have secured the highest marks in their respective branches, while 34 endowment medals will be conferred to meritorious students.

The vice-chancellor emphasised that the graduating students are equipped not only with degrees but also with innovation, resilience, and a forward-thinking mindset. Whether pursuing research, industry roles, entrepreneurship, or higher education, these graduates are poised to be “next-generation change agents” who will shape the future of society and technology.

Importantly, the JSS STU is introducing five new academic programmes in the upcoming academic year to stay ahead of the industry trends and equip students with cutting-edge knowledge.

The courses include MSc in electronics, MSc in electronics (semiconductor technology), MSc in economics, BE in computer science and engineering (artificial intelligence and machine learning), and a BE in computer science and technology (for differently-abled), according to JSS STU.

MoUs to enhance research

In a bid to enhance real-world learning, the JSS STU has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with leading global and national organisations, opening doors to research, internships, and career opportunities.

The MoUs had been signed with the Centre for Science and Technology of the Non-Aligned and Other Developing Countries (NAM S&T), PI Square Technologies, U.S.A., University of Wolverhampton, United Kingdom, Circuitronica (MNC), Global Infotech, ExcelR Edtech Private Limited, Schevaran – Cleanfix Academy of Cleaning Services Private Limited, Mysuru, Board of Apprenticeship Training (Southern region), Chennai, and Builder Association of India.

The JSS STU officials said the collaborations will provide students with hands-on exposure, skill development, mobility programmes, and career pathways in core engineering, semiconductor technology, AI, and beyond.

SJCE principal and dean C. Nataraju, JSS STU registrar S.A. Dhanraj, controller of examinations of JSS STU P. Nanjundaswamy, and dean (academics) P. Manoj Kumar were present. JSS STU placement and training officer Pradeep was also present.
