Kakinada and NTR districts lifted the overall championship trophy in the U-20 and U-15 categories respectively at the 8th Andhra Pradesh State Wrestling Championship, 2025, organised by the Rotary Club of Rajamahendravaram Icons in collaboration with Andhra Pradesh Amateur Wrestling Association in Rajamahendravaram city.
At least 400 wrestlers participated in the championship, which concluded on Sunday (April 6).

In the U-15 category, Kakinada district won the second spot, and Alluri Sitharama Raju district took the second spot in the U-20 category. In the U-15 Girls free-style category, Sailaja (65 kg), Harika (62 kg), Ramana (58 kg), Pravallika (50 kg) and Surya Kala (42 kg) won gold. In U-15 Boys free-style category, Ch. Sunil (85 kg), D. Gupta (75 kg), S. Kumar (67 kg) and Guru Prasad (57 kg) won gold.
The winners will represent Andhra Pradesh at the National Wrestling Championship scheduled to be held in Kota in Rajasthan from April 23. State Wrestling Federation president M.V. Manikyala Rao advised the winners to focus on the national championship.
Wrestling academy
Rotary Club of Rajamahendravaram Icons president Immani Venkat and secretary Suresh Udayagiri announced that the club was preparing to establish a wrestling academy in Rajamahendravaram. Former Wrestler Madireddi Kesava Rao has promised necessary guidance and support for the proposed academy to groom the wrestlers from Rajamahendravaram.
