Disciplinary action has been initiated against 10 panchayat officials under Rajamahendravaram Rural Mandal on the directions of Lokayukta following complaints of misappropriation of panchayat funds and unauthorised constructions.
The Institution of Lokayukta received complaints from J. Srinivasa Goud of Machilipatnam on misappropriation of Panchayat funds, irregular layouts and unauthorised constructions in Bommuru, Katheru, Hukumpeta, and Pidimgoyyi Gram Panchayats under Rajamahendravaram Rural Mandal in East Godavari District. The Lokayukta ordered immediate action on the complaints.
In an official release on Friday (November 07, 2025), the Lokayukta said that after a detailed inquiry, and examination of government orders and vigilance reports, disciplinary proceedings were initiated against 10 officers of the Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Department. Proceedings were completed for eight officers, while two are still under process.
K.P Chandrasekhar, Divisional Level Panchayat Officer, was punished with withholding of the two annual grade increments without cumulative effect, B. Suresh Babu, Panchayat Secretary, was penalised with withholding of one annual grade increment without cumulative effect, B. Rama Srinivas, retired Panchayat Secretary, was issued a show-cause notice proposing a five per cent cut in pension permanently, and D. Vijaya Raju, Panchayat Secretary, faces major penalty with the concurrence of APPSC, which is awaited. Disciplinary action against other officers, P. Rama Prasada Rao, G. Benhar Edward, S. Rama Mohana Rao, B. Maheswara Pratap, D. Srinivasa Rao and S. Subhashini were dropped or abated.
Upa-Lokayukta of Andhra Pradesh P. Rajani observed that substantial disciplinary action had been taken, directed the Commissioner and Principal Secretary to Government, Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Department to submit final reports on or before January 29, 2026, with regard to the action against remaining officers.
