Madrid court confirms UEFA ‘abused dominant position’ on Super League


A Madrid court confirmed on appeal on Wednesday that UEFA had “abused its dominant position” by attempting to prevent the creation of a European Super League in 2021, according to a legal document seen by AFP.

“UEFA and FIFA abused their dominant position (…) by granting themselves the discretionary power to prohibit (European clubs) from participating in alternative competitions,” the prosecutor’s office stated, confirming the decision of the European Court of Justice (ECJ) from 2023.
