Malappuram municipality launches waste management project with World Bank support

Malappuram municipality has launched a solid waste management project with the support of the World Bank.
Inaugurating the project named Kerala State Waste Management Project here on Tuesday, E.T. Mohammed Basheer, MP, called upon civic bodies in the State to make use of the advanced technologies available for waste management.
He said the fast-paced urbanisation in the country brought hardships too along with many benefits. “The social and environmental impact caused by the increase in solid waste is palpable and big,” he added.
Mr. Basheer said effective waste management projects played a significant role in raising the quality of life. He lauded Malappuram municipality for implementing scientific projects. “You are not only doing things but setting an example for others,” he told municipal chairperson Mujeeb Kaderi.
P. Ubaidullah, MLA, presided over the function. District panchayat president K.M. Rafeekha, Manjeri municipal chairperson V.M. Subaida, Malappuram municipality standing committee chairpersons P.K. Abdul Hakeem, Mariyumma Shareef, and C.P. Ayishabi, councillor K.P. Shareef, and municipal secretary K.P. Haseena spoke.
