Man arrested in Hubballi for sexual exploitation

The Hubballi Police on Wednesday arrested a 49-year-old man on the charge of sexually exploiting a minor girl.

Hubballi-Dharwad Police Commissioner N. Shashikumar told presspersons in Hubballi on Wednesday that the man has been identified as Prakash Kanjarghat.

Mr. Shashikumar said that a woman filed a complaint at Keshwapur Police Station on Tuesday stating that when she was a minor in 2023 the accused forcibly took her to his house, sexually exploited her and threatened to kill her parents if she did not keep quiet.

A case had been registered under the provisions of the PoCSO Act, he said.

The Police Commissioner said that there have been complaints of the accused duping and sexually exploiting other women and the police will investigate the them too.

He appealed to women duped by him to come forward to lodge complaints against him, so that the police can take further action.

Also, the accused is said to have taken the woman out from her grandmother’s house in Kolhapur last week. Then, her parents in Hubballi lodged a complaint with the police urging them to trace their daughter.
