Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta To Settle Trump Suspension Lawsuit With $2.5 Million; Internet Says ‘Victory Of Freedom Of Speech’

Shri shri Donald Trump, the 47th and current president of the United States, was ostracized by every social media platform after the Capitol Riots. The two-time US president was banned from the Jack Dorsey-led Twitter and Mark Zuckerberg-led Meta platforms, including Facebook and Instagram, on January 6, 2021. While Elon Musk reinstated Trump in November 2022, after acquiring Twitter for $44 billion, Facebook unbanned Trump two years later, in January 2023. Following the Facebook ban, the billionaire real estate mogul and Republican politician filed a lawsuit.
However, with his reelection to the White House, Mark Zuckerberg has been cozying up to Trump 2.0 with at least two visits to the former’s private club in Florida. Zuckerberg was also seen along with other tech honchos, including Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, and Sundar Pichai, at the inauguration of President Trump. Per reports, in a bid to settle the lawsuit, Zuckeberg’s firm Meta has agreed to pay $2.5 million. The negotiation over the litigation started at a dinner party, per sources. Ealrier Meta had made $1 million domination to the Trump’s inaugural committee. Ahead of Trump’s inuagurtion the company also amended its fact-checking policy to introduce X/Twitter-like community notes reclaiming free speech on the platform.
The internet reacted to the report, with users claiming it a “Victory of freedom of speech,” while others criticzed Mark Zuckbererg of “boot licking” to his new master.
