Most Test centuries: Joe Root equals Sangakkara with 38th international hundred

England batter Joe Root continued his rise to the top of Test batting charts as he recorded his 38th Test century during the fourth match against India at Old Trafford in Manchester on Friday.
Root equalled Sri Lankan wicketkeeper-batter Kumar Sangakkara’s record. He’s now the joint fourth in the list of most Test centuries. He is four short of overtaking Ricky Ponting at the third spot.
During his innings, the 34-year-old went past Jacques Kallis and Rahul Dravid to become the third highest run-getter in the red-ball format and closed in on Australia’s Ricky Ponting.
