As part of the Navy Day celebrations, four ships — INS Himgiri, INS Udaygiri, INS Ranvir, and INS Satpura — called at the Chennai port. Students, NCC cadets and veterans, among others, visited the ships and got a first-hand experience of the Indian Navy’s strength and maritime technological prowess, witnessed demonstrations on small arms handling, CPR training, and firefighting techniques.
“The visit aimed to showcase India’s maritime strength and inspire young minds to serve the nation by pursuing a career in the Indian Navy, contributing to nation-building efforts. Over 930 students from various schools, 375 NCC cadets, and 364 officer cadets from the Officers Training Academy, Chennai, took part in the event, along with veterans and naval families,” a release said.
