Nigerian national deported from Hyderabad for overstaying, drug peddling links

A 30-year-old Nigerian national who was overstaying in Hyderabad after his visa had expired has been deported by the Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) for his alleged involvement in drug peddling.

The accused, identified as Ali-Enuke Fortunatus Akudinanwa alias Fortune, a native of Enugu State in Nigeria, first entered India on a student visa in 2016. “He worked as a DJ in city pubs but later began indulging in drug peddling to earn money. Checks with the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) confirmed that his travel documents had lapsed, making his stay illegal,” said the DCP of H-NEW, YVS Sudheendra.

H-NEW apprehended him in Langer Houz police station limits following a tip-off. Although no drugs were seized during the search, the officer said that he failed to provide valid documents and had been living lavishly allegedly with the money earned through narcotics. He was subsequently deported in coordination with FRRO.

H-NEW appealed to parents to keep watch on their children to prevent drug addiction and urged the public to report information on narcotics to 8712661601.
