Oppo Reno 14 5G Review: Making Style Statement, Backing With Substance

If there’s one thing Oppo consistently gets right, it’s design, and the Reno 14 5G is no exception. I’ve spent a few days with it, and here’s the bottom line: it looks like a premium phone, feels like a premium phone, and for the most part, acts like one too.
A Head-Turner!

Let’s start with what immediately grabs your attention: the design. The Reno 14 5G is gorgeous. I’m reviewing the Forest Green version, a matte, slightly muted emerald that feels both fresh and understated. It’s a color that doesn’t scream flash, yet sparks interest, definitely a notch above the usual bland black or white. Buyers can also opt for the white colour variants that has a clean, modern, and minimalist finish.
At just 7.42mm thick and weighing around 187g, it’s remarkably slim and easy to handle, even with one hand. The back is curved just enough for comfort, and the flat-edge frame gives it that flagship feel. Honestly, in terms of looks and ergonomics, it punches well above its weight.
Smooth, Bright, and Punchy
You get a 6.59-inch 1.5K OLED display with 120Hz refresh rate, and it’s a delight to use. Colors are vibrant, blacks are deep, and it gets plenty bright at 1200 nits, so outdoor use isn’t a problem. Scrolling, gaming, and streaming on this screen feels smooth and responsive. There’s also an in-display fingerprint scanner, which is fast and reliable, as expected.
Mid-Range Muscle, Mostly
Under the hood, the Reno 14 5G is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8350 SoC, paired with 8GB or 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. In day-to-day usage, social media, multitasking, switching between apps, it performs smoothly. Games like BGMI and Asphalt 9 run well on medium to high settings with little to no lag.
If you’re coming from a budget or older mid-range phone, the speed jump is noticeable, though it’s not flagship-level fast. But for 90% of users? More than enough. It ships with ColorOS 14.1 based on Android 14, which is clean, customizable, and packs some helpful features without overwhelming you with bloatware.
Great for Daylight, AI Adds Flair
Let’s talk cameras. The Reno 14 features a triple camera setup that includes 50MP main sensor, an 50MP telephoto lens and an ultra-wide angle lens.
The main camera is solid, it captures sharp, detailed photos in daylight and does a good job with dynamic range. Oppo’s image processing leans slightly toward saturated colors, which some users may love for that “Instagram-ready” look. Low-light shots are decent, thanks to OIS, but don’t expect magic. The ultra-wide is okay, but soft at the edges.
Where things get fun is with Oppo’s AI-backed features, like AI Eraser 2.0, Live Photo 2.0, and Smart Image Matting. You can do quick edits, remove objects, and play around with your shots without needing separate apps. It’s perfect for Gen Z and millennial users who live on social media.

Long Life, Fast Top-Up
You get a 6,000mAh battery with 80W fast charging, and here’s the good news, it easily lasts a full day with moderate to heavy use. Streaming, gaming, and scrolling didn’t kill it quickly. Charging is quick too, around 30 minutes to full from near dead. No wireless charging here, but that’s forgivable at this price point.
Should You Buy It

The Oppo Reno 14 5G starts at ₹37,999 for the 8GB + 128GB model and goes up to ₹42,999 for the 12GB + 256GB variant. If you want a phone that looks and feels high-end, delivers on everyday performance, and gives you a camera system that’s fun and creative to use, the Oppo Reno 14 5G is a solid pick.
It’s not for gamers who want the most powerful chipset, but it’s perfect for users who prioritize stunning design, great screen, smooth day-to-day usage, creative AI camera tools, fast charging support. It is a great deal for style-conscious users, content creators, and everyday multitaskers who want a premium feel without the flagship price tag.
