Director-General of Police Ch. Dwaraka Tirumala Rao, who retired from service on attaining superannuation on Friday, said he faced many challenges in the discharge of his duties, but was retiring with full satisfaction.
A native of Guntur district, Mr. Tirumala Rao had started his career as Additional Superintendent of Police at Kamareddy. In his 35 years of service, he had served as Superintendent of Police in several districts, DIG, and IGP. He had also worked in the CID and CBI, and as Police Commissioner and APSRTC Managing Director.
“In the morning, I felt emotional when I was wearing the police uniform for the last day,” Mr. Tirumala Rao said.
Recalling the support extended by his parents, teachers, friends, and well-wishers, the outgoing DGP thanked the people and officers for their cooperation.
Mr. Tirumala Rao later received the guard of honour from the APSP Battalions at the 6th Battalion headquarters at Mangalagiri. Senior police officers bid him a grand farewell.
