Over 24,000 people benefited under Nalam Kaakkum Stalin scheme in Salem, says Minister

Tourism Minister R. Rajendran on Saturday (November 29, 2025) said that a total of 24,219 people in Salem district have been benefited through the medical camps conducted under the Nalam Kaakkum Stalin Scheme.
The Minister inspected the medical camp held at a higher secondary school in Omalur Taluk and interacted with the beneficiaries. The Minister also discussed with the health officials regarding the facilities provided in the camp. Later, the Minister distributed differently-abled identity cards to 12 beneficiaries post medical tests.
The Minister told the reporters Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inaugurated the scheme on August 2, 2025 in Chennai and the first camp in Salem Corporation was conducted at Kamarajar Girls Higher Secondary School. As of date, 16 medical camps were conducted in the district and a total of 24,219 people, including 10,372 males and 13,847 females, were benefited.
The Minister added that blood tests were performed for 19,208 people, ECG tests for 16,706, ultrasound scan tests for 2,408, echo tests for 2,606 and x-ray tests for 1,953. The doctor’s team also provided counselling for the individuals. Under the scheme, experts from 17 different departments, including cardiology, general medicine, neurology, orthopaedics, and dermatology, provided their services to people participating in the camp, he said.
During the inspection, District Collector R. Brindha Devi and officials from departments concerned participated.
